Engineering

We live professional diversity

People from different specializations develop our battery systems together.

We are involved in the development process of our products from the first design. Experts from different specialities work together in interdisciplinary groups to this end.

Mechanical Product Development

Project Manager Product Development & System Engineering

Our team consists of engineers and scientists from different backgrounds.

Mechanical Product Development

The best performance for our products

Our tasks range from the design and calculation of components, 3D designs and the creation of 2D drawings, to technical supplier coordination, in order to guarantee manufacturability.

To ensure that all components fulfill the necessary requirements, we run simulations that show the structural, thermal and electrothermal performance of our products.

THIERRY,
JOINING TECHNOLOGY

With team work and expertise in joining technologies, we can reach our goals.

We develop techniques for the bonding, welding and screwing of our battery packs. This is how we follow the development of our batteries from the initial idea to serial production. To achieve this we need technical knowledge from the areas of chemistry, production technology and material sciences.

Innovation is our passion

Our teammates each have different spezialisations, which enables us to develop new ideas and technologies, as well as determine customer requirements and issues.

At the start of a project we often do a risk assessment on concept studies. Based on these assessments, we create new designs, build prototypes, and test them.

MARTIN & JOHANNES,

The space for creativity

Value engineering focuses on a holistic, function-oriented approach. Instead of optimizing individual components, we ask what functions the battery should fulfill and this is how we support the our Advanced Development Team.

We check whether there are functions that are perhaps over- or under-fulfilled. Only at a later stage do we look at solutions.

We create space for creativity.

JUAN MANUEL,
VALUE ENGINEERING

Our goal is to continuously improve the cost efficiency and quality of our products, through value engineering
methods and tools.

"It is a constant learning experience dealing with state of the art technologies on the electric vehicle market on a daily basis."

Project Manager Product Development & System Engineering

We keep an overview of our colleagues

Reaching a common goal means working as a team.

To ensure this succeeds, our Project Managers Product Development maintain clarity and keep the big picture in view. Together with the project teams, they drive the development of our products.

Our Project Managers Product Development are the interface between our teams and customers worldwide.

KARIN,
CHANGE & CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT

We specialize in the product configuration of our battery packs.

Our group focuses on identifying and formalizing the functional and physical properties of our battery packs during product development.

To reach this goal, we need to combine technical and economical knowledge.

One team across the globe

We work together with development teams at our headquarters in South Korea and coordinate the creation of performance simulations on electrical power, thermal behavior and service life at our site. We work with various tools for analysis and simulation, but also with Matlab and Dymola.

System Engineering

Our system engineering team takes on an integrative role between our customers and our internal stakeholders. Requirements are jointly structured, assessed, and managed to enable efficient collaboration across different technical disciplines. Through clearly defined alignment and coordination processes, we develop holistic and sustainable solutions that equally consider technical and functional aspects.

BIRGIT,
HARDWARE

The software's counterpart

Our Hardware team is concerned with almost everything in relation to all printed and electronic circuits at Samsung SDI BS.

For detailed analyses the Hardware Lab is available to us. Here the necessary measuring instruments and tools are at our disposal.

In additon, the experts for the complex topic of electromagnetic compatability (EMC) are an essential part of our department.

Sweating together, brings us together - that is why we also strengthen our team after work.

"Connecting passion and job also works like this."

MARKUS,

HARDWARE & PARTNER OF THE CLIMBING SPONSORED PROJECT

Our team consists of engineers and scientists from different backgrounds.

"I work with the utmost precision."

Software

“A battery management system analyzes and makes decisions. High-performance functions emerge from the interaction of different disciplines. That’s exactly what inspires me.”

ANDREAS,
SOFTWARE

The brain that drives everything

Software is all around us, but is often viewed as an abstract concept. If a control unit's tangible hardware is understood as the brain, the software is best characterized as the active thoughts, the memories and blueprints of the brain.

In software development we develop the instructions for this brain. We have to asses the requirements, design the architecture, the algorithms, the structures and the source codes and then test them extensively.
In a battery, the software's function is to monitor and control the operations, which in turn ensures a safe and efficient usage.

JOY IN THE SUMMER MONTHS

“We develop software with cool heads and enjoy the summer with ice cream.”

Functional Safety

With our expertise in systems, electronics, and software, we develop functional safety concepts in accordance with ISO 26262 and conduct safety analyses.

In close collaboration with the development and testing teams, we define safe product concepts and the corresponding requirements.
