The Leukemia Aid Organization Styria has been supporting leukemia research at the Clinical Division of Hematology at the University Hospital Graz for a long time.
Support is now being provided for an ongoing project in which changes in the RAS genes in leukemia cells are being investigated. These genes are also important regulators of blood stem cell growth in healthy individuals. Through pathological changes, however, they can lead to cell growth becoming independent, and thus lead to the development of leukemia. In this project, the researchers are now trying to find out more about these leukemia-relevant changes. This should subsequently also provide the basis for targeted and thus more effective therapy options.
We at Samsung SDI Battery Systems support the Leukemia Aid Organization Styria in conducting this project with 25,000€.
The ceremonial handover of the donation check took place today, June 23rd, 2020 at the Clinical Division of Hematology. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the handover was done in front of the building.
